Year 5/6 had a fantastic residential at Kingswood. We canoed down the River Don, climbed the High Ropes, soared down the Zip Wire, scored on Aeroball, stood on guard in Fencing, aimed and fired in Laser, learned how to start a fire in Bushcraft, solved a Murder Mystery and sang songs by the Campfire! No wonder we are all exhausted. Fun times were definitely had by all.
During w/c 18th September it was Global Goals for Sustainable Living Week. We learned that the aim is to achieve all the Global Goals by 2030. We looked at Global Goal number 5 in more detail: gender equality. We completed a survey for the World’s Largest Lesson that compared the ratio of females to males in society’s leadership roles. Our Prime Mininster, Mayor and Headteacher are female while our local MP and Head of Derbyshire Police Constabulary are male.
On Friday 15th September we celebrated International Day and showed that we can make our mark on the world. In Rowling Class we made our dots into Harry Potter caricatures.
