Our year started with ‘all things’ descriptive! Linking English to our ‘War & Peace’ topic, we have been describing a dogfight between the R.A.F and Luftwaffe during WW2. To make our aircraft descriptions more interesting and informative, we wrote metaphors, similes and personifications.
Once our work was completed, we developed our editing skills by checking our punctuation, grammar and spellings. Whilst editing, we have also considered better word choices and sentence structures. We’re all extremely keen to showcase our best handwriting.
Our Flanders Field response poetry is on display in the Hall with our Remembrance artwork.
Upper Key Stage Two simulated a WW2 air raid. The children really enjoyed this drama experience and were able to note down their feelings and thoughts at different stages throughout the attack. Their notes are helping the children to draft a newspaper report.

We continue to follow Varjak Paw on his great adventure to find a dog, to save his Mesopotamian family. The novel has us hooked! We are enjoying working in groups to analyse the authors techniques, through drama and written activities. Recently, we rewrote a paragraph from chapter 7; changing Varjak’s dream into a nightmare – scary stuff!
