Admissions
We have places in most of our year groups and welcome children of all ages from nursery to Y6. Please see below for more information on how to apply for a place at Hollingwood.
We regularly hold open mornings throughout the year for families interested in joining Hollingwood. During these events, you can meet Mr Stewart, our headteacher, tour the school and grounds, and ask any questions you may have.

Applying for a school place
Admissions to the school are processed by the Local Authority as part of the Derbyshire Coordinated Admissions Scheme. You will find guidance about application dates and access to online application forms for primary school places via this link Apply for a school place - Derbyshire County Council .
The Published Admissions Number (PAN) for the school is 45 pupils in Reception and 40 across Year groups 1 to 6.
Admissions for 2026/2027
For admissions in September 2026:
- The application round opens on 10th November 2025 and closes on 15th January 2026
- The offer date for the September 2026 intake is 16th April 2025 (National Offer Day)

In-Year Admissions.
- If you would like to make an in-year admission to move or change schools, please contact the Local Authority at any point in the year on the link above.
Apply for a primary or infant school place
- If your child was born between 1 September 2021 - 31 August 2022 your child will be eligible to start school in September 2026.
You should apply for their infant or primary school place by 15 January 2026.

Appeals
If your child has been refused a place and you would like to appeal against the decision, please see below further information on making an appeal.
In-year admissions only 2025/26
- If your appeal relates to an in-year admission, you should submit your appeal within 20 days of being told that your application was unsuccessful.
2026/27 application round
- If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school in September 2026 and you are told of the decision on 16th April 2026 (National Offer Day) you should submit your appeal by 17th May 2026.
- If you are told of an infant, junior or primary decision after 16th April 2026 or it relates to an in-year admission, you should submit your appeal within 20 days of being told that your application was unsuccessful.
How to appeal
- Appeals are submitted through to the Flying High Partnership central team via appeals@flyinghightrust.co.uk – your appeal will be acknowledged and referred on to an independent appeals clerk who will manage the process and keep you informed of progress.
- If you wish to appeal, please complete the appeals form below.
- If you'd prefer a paper form and hard copy of these notes, please request this from the school office.
- You should make your appeal within 20 school days of receiving notification that the application was unsuccessful.
- Forms for decisions notified on 16th April 2026 must be returned by 17th May 2026 and forms for decisions notified after that date within 20 school days of receiving notification that the application was unsuccessful.
